  • What should I consider before getting a tattoo?
Tattoos are a permanent alteration to your body, so it's important that you are well informed about your decision! Your skin is not like paper, it is a living thing and (just like we do) tattoos will age over time. How well they age depends on a variety of factors, including the size, detail and placement of the design. We will be able to advise you on this. Sun, improper healing, and poor health, will affect the final results so be sure to look after your tattoo even long after its healed! Older tattoos can be often be reworked and recoloured. Unwanted tattoos can be covered with a new tattoo (cover up tattoo) or removed (laser treatment). It is imperative that you are honest with your tattoo artist about any medical conditions, allergies, or if you are prone to fainting. You should also consider the artist's portfolio, reviews and research images of their healed work.
  • What does it feel like to get a tattoo?
The sensation feels like a vibrating scratch against your skin. While the pain isn’t typically too intense, thanks to the use of the latest tattoo machines and techniques, everyone’s pain tolerance is different, and the length of the tattoo can affect how it feels. Some areas might be more sensitive than others, so it’s all about your individual comfort level and the specific design you're getting.
  • How much is a tattoo?
The price depends on the size, detail, style, and placement of the tattoo. Some artists charge by the hour, while others charge per piece. I charge an hourly rate of £90 when actively tattooing, which ensures you get a fair price based on the actual time spent on your tattoo. Design, sizing, stenciling, and adjustment times are all free of charge, allowing you to focus on getting the perfect design without worrying about extra costs. This approach helps to create a transparent and straightforward pricing structure for all my clients.
  • How do I book in?
The most efficient way is to message the studio online! If you have a specific artist in mind, then you can state this in your message, and we will liaise with the artist in order to get you booked in. If you are not sure which artist is best suited to your needs, then have no fear, we have your back! After chatting through your design ideas with you and reviewing your reference images, we will be able to point you to the best artist for the job. To confirm the booking, we will need your full name, phone number, email address and a deposit. The booking is NOT confirmed until the deposit is in place, so please ensure full communication throughout the stage of the booking process! Once you are booked in, you will receive an automated email, providing you with the details and location of your booking, sometimes this goes to the spam folder, so please check your junk mail!
  • Do you have a waiting list?
I’m lucky to have many loyal clients, which often means I’m booked 2-3 months in advance. If you're looking to get your work done sooner, my best advice is to book through the studio. We may have a cancellation spot available (be sure to mention you want to be added to the cancellation list!), or we could even offer you a spot with another artist on the team if their style suits what you’re looking for!
  • How should I prepare for my tattoo?
Make sure you are well rested, well hydrated, and have eaten recently. Take a shower. Hygiene is paramount! Charge your electronics and bring entertainment! (book/movie/music etc) Snacks! Complimentary teas and coffees are available in the studio, however, if you prefer a different type of drink or it's a longer session, then it's always a good idea to have some food and drink on hand. What should I wear? It’s more important to be comfortable than to be fashionable. We’ve had clients arrive in PJ’s (with their slippers and blanket) before! The baggier the better! You don't want any tight clothes distorting the surface of your skin or restricting any blood flow during your session! Keep in mind that depending on the location of your tattoo you may want to be able to cover certain areas of the body (e.g. don’t wear a t-shirt for a back piece unless you are comfortable being topless, a good alternative would be to wear a button-up shirt and put it on backwards when we start to tattoo so that we have free access to the skin). If you are unsure what to wear then feel free to ask for advice. It's always best to avoid white/favourite clothes, the ink can stain and it's better to be safe than sorry!
  • Can I get a touch up on my tattoo?
Of course! Touch-ups are free of charge for tattoos done by our artists, provided you follow our recommended aftercare instructions (see the Aftercare FAQ). We want your tattoo to look absolutely perfect (after all, it's a representation of our work!) So if a touchup is required, we will provide a free touch-up session so long as it is booked within six months of your original tattoo date. Not all tattoos need a touch-up, in fact most won't! If you are not sure then feel free to send us a message or visit the studio for advice, and for the best results, please respect the aftercare instructions! When should I request a touch up? Allow time for the skin to settle down to a more normal condition before having your touch ups (1-5 months, but no more than 6 months). If the tattoo is older (e.g. 3 years old) you may wish to opt for a rework due to the natural ageing process of the tattoo. Reworks (and touch-ups of other artists tattoos are charged at the normal hourly rate) Fingers/toes, hands/feet tattoos are areas that we generally discourage. Healing in these areas can be problematic due to the properties of the skin (as well as the placement), and as such these tattoos are not eligible for a free touch-up session. For more details please contact the shop.
  • How old do I need to be to get a tattoo?
In the UK, you must be at least 18 years old and have a valid form of photo ID
  • What is the deposit/cancellation Policy?
Any booked design or tattooing appointment with require a deposit. If you have an appointment booked with us that you need to cancel, simply let us know! You can cancel your appointment with [upwards of] seven days notice and the deposit will be refunded to you. If you wish to cancel your appointment for ANY reason during the 7 days leading up to your appointment, then the deposit is non-refundable. Other reasons your deposit would be lost: 🕓 If you are late by 30 mins or more. Please respect that artists often have several clients in a day, if you are too late for your time slot this will be considered a 'no-show' and your deposit will be lost. 🥵 We cannot tattoo sunburnt skin! Sunburn is a burn trauma to the surface of the skin, tattooing on top of this will cause further damage, affecting the tattooing process and again the healing. If you turn up to your appointment with sunburnt skin, unfortunately you will lose your deposit. 💸 Gift Vouchers are non-refundable. However, they are transferable, so you can re-gift it, or you can sell it to someone else if you no longer wish to use it. ✏️ If you have had a design drawn up with your artist and then choose not to go ahead with the tattoo, the deposit would be forfeit in this instance to help compensate the artist for the time they spent designing. 🤡 Any verbal or physical harassment of the staff (or other clients) will not be tolerated. You will be asked to leave the premises and your deposit will be lost.
  • Do you charge a design fee?
We typically don't charge for your designing so long as you have a clear concept in mind and follow through with the tattooing process. However if you book in with an artist with a specific idea in mind and then totally change the design concept (for example you booked in for a rose and you've now decided that you want an elephant) a design fee will be charged, designing is a lot of work and requires time and effort to do, so we ask that you are sure about your concept before booking in! 🙏🏻
  • Can I get a tattoo over a scar?
Absolutely, however there are a few important factors to consider. You should wait until a scar is fully healed and matured before getting a tattoo over it. The healing time depends on the size and type of scar, and can range from a few weeks to several years. Healing time Keloid scars: Wait at least one year for a keloid scar to heal before getting a tattoo. Deeper or larger scars: Wait at least 3–5 years for deeper or larger scars to heal before getting a tattoo. Surgical scars: Wait at least 12 months for surgical scars to heal before getting a tattoo. It is important to have a consultation with your artist so that they can assess the skin and advise you with regards to your tattooing process. It is also important to note that scarred skin tends to be more sensitive than on the scarred skin, so tattooing over a scar can be more painful. If you have concerns regarding the pain of your tattoo then please see the section of our FAQ regarding numbing cream.
  • What is the Aftercare procedure?
Once your tattoo is completed, we will apply a water-resistant, spray-on dressing designed for medical use (including use in skin graft fixation and on clean, dry surgical wounds, surface wounds, unbroken blisters, minor burns etc). This breathable film is a safe, discreet and comfortable alternative the clingfilm used in days gone by! The spray promotes healing while preventing contamination. How long it lasts varies from person to person, but it will peel away in its own time. So be careful not to pick at it or try to scrub it off. The best thing to do is to act like it's not even there! You will need to gently wash your tattoo, 3 to 4 times a day using an unscented soap. Once your tattoo has been washed and rinsed, be sure to pat it dry (don't rub it) before applying your after-care cream. For after-care cream, we recommend "HustleButter" and "Sorry Mom", these are specifically designed after-care creams and are available from the studio. Alternatively, we recommend simple coconut oil (found in the cooking section of most supermarkets) During your healing phase, the tattoo may itch, this is perfectly normal and nothing to be worried about. The itch is caused by the skin rejuvenating itself but it is important that you do not scratch it. Not only could scratching the tattoo affect the healing process, but if you are unlucky it could also leave you susceptible to infection, don't forget a tattoo is an open wound and should be treated as such so, DON'T SCRATCH IT! ... SLAP IT! If oil/aftercare cream isn’t helping, run it under cold water for a few moments and you should be itch free. 🚨 You can shower as normal with the new tattoo, however, be careful when washing the tattooed area, be sure not to use abrasive, mitts/loofahs et cetera. 🚨 Do not swim or bathe during the healing process. 🚨 Keep the healing tattoo out of the Sun and be diligent in applying sunscreen to the area once the tattoo is healed. No sunbathing/sunbeds etc. 🚨 Gentle exercise is okay however it is best to keep extreme exercise to a minimum during the healing process. If you are unsure then please ask your artist for advice.
  • How long does it take to heal?
It usually takes around 7 to 14 days for the body to heal most of the tattoo.
  • Is it normal for my new tattoo to scab?
Scabbing, flaking, peeling, and dryness are all natural parts of the healing process. Severe scabs that are deep and thick may indicate that something rubbed on the tattoo/it has not been moisturised enough, or the skin may have become over-traumatised during the the tattooing process. If you have any concerns, send some pictures to your artist and they will advise if a change in aftercare routine is necessary.
  • Can I have a painless tattoo?
We also offer professional Numbing Cream, which works wonders in minimizing discomfort. It’s applied 1-2 hours before your session and, when used correctly, many clients report feeling little to no pain for up to 3-4 hours! While most of our clients opt for numbing cream, we only use the brand we recommend on our website. This is because many numbing creams on the market are either illegal, toxic, or can negatively affect your skin during both the tattooing and healing process. Your comfort and safety are our top priority! Numbing cream is available from the studio, and a patch test at least 24 hours BEFORE your appointment is essential (even if you have used it before). Contact the studio for details!
  • How should I apply the numbing cream?
The numbing cream is most effective when applied 1 ½ to 2 hours before your tattoo session. If you already have your design, be sure to apply the cream a couple of hours before your appointment. If you're designing with your artist on the day, let them know you plan to use numbing cream as soon as you arrive at the studio. This way, they can take a picture of the area to be tattooed, and the cream can be applied right after. First, make sure the skin is completely clean. Ideally, use rubbing alcohol to remove any surface oils, but if you don’t have it, be sure to thoroughly wash and dry the area. Next, apply the cream in layers. Start with a thin layer, rubbing it vigorously into the skin until it’s no longer visible. This helps open the pores and increases absorption. Repeat this process once or twice more. For the final layer, you’ll want to apply it more generously, patting it onto the skin so that it doesn’t rub in immediately and stays on the surface. Once you've applied the cream, cover the area with cling film and secure it in place. Keep the cling film on until your tattoo artist is ready to begin. This will ensure maximum effectiveness of the numbing cream during your session.
  • I want a Cover Up! Do I need to laser it first?
The answer to this question is completely dependant on the tattoo that needs covering (as well as what you are hoping to cover it with!) Before we begin the cover-up process, we’d really appreciate it if you could send us a photo of the tattoo you want to cover, or bring it into the studio in person. Depending on the design you’re aiming for, you may not need laser treatment at all, though that’s quite rare. You don’t have to remove the tattoo completely with lasers—just lightening it enough for us to work with is usually sufficient, and we want to make sure it doesn’t peek through over time.

  • How soon can you cover up a tattoo?
We occasionally get asked if we can redo work from another artist and how soon that can be done. It’s important to wait until your tattoo has fully healed before making any changes. While the surface of your tattoo typically heals in about 2-3 weeks, it can take up to 2 months for it to heal completely. Be sure to check in with your artist beforehand to confirm that your skin is ready for a cover-up, so everything goes smoothly when your appointment arrives.
  • Can I get a cover-up tattoo?
The feasibility of a cover-up depends on the level of detail and color of the original tattoo. To determine your options, it is highly recommended to book a free consultation with our studio. During the consultation, we will assess the existing tattoo and discuss potential designs for the cover-up. If you have a specific idea for your new tattoo, please bring image references with you. This will help us better understand your vision and provide you with the best possible outcome. Our goal is to ensure that the new tattoo beautifully and effectively covers the old one, tailored specifically to your preferences.
  • Do cover up tattoos hurt more?
Covering up a tattoo is often more challenging than it appears, both for the client and the artist. Depending on the size and placement of the original tattoo, the new design may need to be larger, which can mean more discomfort, especially over scar tissue. Creating the right design to effectively cover the old tattoo requires careful consideration and collaboration. It can be tricky to come up with an idea that works for both you and the artist, but it’s essential that both of you are satisfied with the final result for a successful cover-up.
